Sermon: “Christ and the Locksmith”

The Fifth Sunday in Lent   April 2, 2017

Scripture:  Click on the passages:  Revelation 3:19-22
John 11:1-4, 20-27, 32-35,38-44

A locksmith can get into any locked door.  Christ is not a locksmith!  Notice that there is not lock or even a handle in the famous artwork of Warner Sallman, “Christ at Heart’s Door.”  Christ knocks, but it is up to us to open up.

Check the irony in the account of the raising of Lazarus.  The same irony as the story of my ministry and locksmith friend, Bill.
