Sermon: “The Good Rising from the Bad”
The Eleventh Sunday in Pentecost*, August 13, 2017
This is the first of a two-part series about the story of Joseph. We explore how Joseph changed the way he thought about himself, from the multi-colored cloaked arrogant son, to discovering his gift of interpreting dreams and God using him. We follow Joseph through the movements of “The Positive Way” (Via Positiva) “The Negative Way” (Via Negativa) and “The Creative Way” (Via Creativa). Next week, the fourth mode,”The Transformative Way” (Via Transformativa) will conclude the series.
*The names of the Sundays are taken from Pastor’s book, The Bible Through the Seasons: A Three-Year Journey with the Bible. There are thirteen Sundays in the season of Pentecost — summer in the north, winter in the south.
